| In 1959, Robert Weitzel, opened a driving range on the property, and in 1960, construction began on what would become the original nine holes at C.C.C. Caledonia Country Club was opened for play on Memorial Day in 1963.
In 1977, the back nine was ready for play, and Caledonia Country Club became an official 18-hole golf course. |
The Caledonia Country Club is an 18-hole, 6200-yard from the whites and 6500-yard from the blues, Par-72 test that features fully watered and manicured fairways, lightning-fast greens, and a scenic layout centered around Malloch's Hill, the legendary rise that overlooks the course.
Although Caledonia is a private club, the public is invited to play on Mondays and Tuesdays.
This course is basically a "grip it and rip it" course. Primarily all fairways are straight. The no. 1 hole has a slight dog leg to the right. Watering has always been a problem with this course. The fairways are usually brown from lack of watering. There is not water on the course and Mr Weitzel believes that the bar and food area shouldn't open before 11:00 am. He has a beverage cart, thanks to the vending company, but refuses to let it on the course claiming that it takes away from the bar trade. This course is open to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays. Some members believe that if you have money in your pocket you can play any day of the week. Given the usual condition of the course, I believe it is too expensive compared to other similiar courses.
Course is garbage this year, slow greens, rough fairways with minimal green grass mostly brown. Course needs rain because heaven forbid they spend money on a watering system. Just a disappointing year for this golf course and it reflects the head pro.

a nicely maintained course, except for the tee boxes. The fairways and greens were manicured. The majority of this course is on a giant hill so the scenery is great. The tee boxes for holes 9 and 18 look down from the top of the hill over lush fairways. A fun course that is worth your time.
