This was one of the early designs of Robert Trent Jones Sr. and is the best of the Monroe County public courses. This hilly course has an abundance of wildlife living on and around its grounds. The course is located close to both Lake Ontario and Eastman Lake, providing some wonderful scenery. Water hazards come into play on nine holes. The tee boxes and fast greens are elevated. The front nine is the best of the Monroe County courses, and looks and plays like a country club. The clubhouse was totally rebuilt in the summer of 2004 with a large restaurant and pro shop. A deck overlooking the 18th green is a great place to relax after a round. The downside to this course is that it has problems with being too wet much of the year. As of 2005, the front and back nines have switched. The Front nine starts across the street, and the Back nine starts in front of the clubhouse.
beautiful course, greens a tad slow, staff is ok, but i love this course!

Wow, don't know where all this negativity is coming from... just played there for the first time, and it was awesome. The layout is a bit tight at times, but beautiful all the way around. Definitely the best course I've played so far (not saying much, but still). With the fog rolling in, it felt like we were playing overseas or something!
$22 for a cart + 18 holes is a steal for this course. Conditions were also nice, not too wet anyway at all. Stop bashing a course you haven't played at in a while!

Love this course, great layout and it's always been in good shape for me. Tad expensive but eh, it's all good.

EMBARASSING AND AWFUL COURSE!!!

I play in a league there during the week and the course is in nice shape. However, the jokers that run the place should be fired. No clue how to run leagues. We are NEVER on time. Not like this means anything to the normal everyday golfer there, but be prepared for a slow round.
I love the layout and variety of the course, only wish that it were in better shape
I have played this course for decades..and have never beaten it. I just wish they had left the original layout as is..the 18th...( now # 9 ) used to be the best finishing hole in the area..so tight you had to hit your drive with a shoehorn to get it in play! A thinking man's ( or women's ) course.. you will use every club in your bag..except the ball retriever!
Played the course in early May 2005, and it was VERY WET conditions on the fairways on the Back 9.

I have always felt that this course is definitely THE best test of golf of the three county courses. It is very sad that it is so wet so much of the time. It has some of the best par 4's around, for example: #2 (old #11), #4 (old #13), #11 (old #2, one of the best I have ever played), #16 (old #7, never , ever go at all to the left off the tee) and the new 18th (old #9). These five par 4's are as good as it gets. One day, someone with a lot of money will invest in the drainage system the will dry this beauty out once and for all. I think that if they were to make a lake out of the area just west of the creek on the first hole and drain everything into it, it would make a huge difference on the front nine. This course can be had, but it can eat you for lunch as well. My personal best is 74 here, but I have shot a lot more than that as well.
This course used to be one of the number 1 gems in monroe county.
